EuroPolA – A new Jean Monnet Module

Political Technology, via its coordinator,  has successfully bid for a Jean Monnet Module grant (Funded by the EC’s Erasmus+) .

The module is called “European-focused Policy Analytics – EuroPolA”.

Overview

EuroPolA is a tertiary level educational course regarding in data analysis for public policies with an emphasis on EU policies.  EuroPolA’s objective is to develop a trainign scheme and framework for analyzing public policy data that combines (a) public policy analysis , (b) data analysis techniques and (c) software skills for retrieving and analyzing this data. EuroPolA’s focus is on the following policy domains:

  • EU external affairs
  • EU regional development

and it is delivered through three (3x) alternative training activities:

  • a semester-wide optional course, in Greek, available to all students in the University of Peloponnese, to be offered in the  Spring Semesters, during the academic years 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19.
  • a summer school, in English, for all those interested, to be offered during the academic years 2017/18 and 2018/19.
  • a massive open on-line course (MOOC) in English and Greek, for all those interested, to be offered in the academic year 2018/19.

The educational content is the same in all the activities but varies in form as appropriate. The content is organized as follows:

  1. Policy analysis elements
    • EU external affairs, moderated by Prof. Fakiolas
    • EU regional development, moderated by Prof. Papadimitriou
  2. Data analysis techniques, moderated by Prof. Katsis
  3. Software skills in data retrieval from electronic sources, moderated by Prof. Koutsoukis.
  4. Skills in using integrated software for retrieving and analysing data, moderated by Prof. Koutsoukis in collaboration with Prof. Katsis.

EuroPolA’s addresses the needs of prospective or existing policy analysts, inluding social sciences senior undegraduates and postgraduate students as well as anyone intersetd in the content of the module.
